Cataract surgery

Cataract surgery with drops, not an injection.

Dr. Thomas Mathew performs topical phacoemulsification. Anaesthetic drops numb the eye, the clouded lens is removed through a tiny opening, and a clear artificial lens takes its place. Most people go home the same day.

Your lens options

Sharp distance vision. Most people still use reading glasses.

Also corrects astigmatism, for crisper distance vision.

Focuses near and far, so many people rarely need glasses.

Dr. Thomas Mathew will help you choose the right lens for your eyes and daily life.

Questions patients ask

Is cataract surgery painful?

Most people feel little or no pain. Dr. Thomas Mathew uses anaesthetic eye drops instead of an injection, and you stay awake and comfortable throughout.

How long does cataract surgery take?

The operation itself usually takes 15 to 20 minutes. Allow a few hours in total for preparation and a short rest afterwards.

Which lens is right for me?

It depends on your eyes, any astigmatism, and how you like to see. Monofocal, toric and multifocal lenses each have trade-offs, and the doctor will help you choose.

Do I need an appointment?

Appointments keep waiting short. Call or WhatsApp 97464 10920, or send the form, and we will confirm a time.

Will my eyes be dilated?

Often, yes. Dilating drops let the doctor examine the back of the eye. Your vision stays blurry for a few hours, so please don’t drive yourself home.

Do you see children?

Yes. We check children’s vision, squint and lazy eye. Please bring any previous glasses or reports.

Can I get my medicines and glasses here?

Yes. Noah Pharmacy and Cotton Hill Opticals are in the same building, so you can collect both after your consultation.
